Instructions

Gameplay and controls in Vectonova are based on a twin-stick configuration. The left analog stick or the W, A, S, D keys control the movement of the Vecton across the two-dimensional playfield. The right analog stick or the mouse controls the direction of the ship’s primary weapon, a rapid-fire energy bolt. The primary fire button is the left mouse button or the Z key. The player can also activate a secondary ability, the Energy Shield, by pressing the right mouse button or the X key. The shield absorbs incoming projectiles for a short duration but drains the ship’s energy meter. The energy meter is displayed as a horizontal bar at the top of the screen and is replenished by collecting small, hexagonal energy fragments dropped by destroyed enemies. A third action, the Nova Burst, is available when the energy meter is full. Pressing the spacebar or the C key triggers a radial explosion that destroys all nearby enemies and projectiles, but consumes the entire energy meter. The player ship has a single hit point; any contact with an enemy or projectile results in immediate destruction. The player is granted three lives per sector, with an extra life awarded every 10,000 points. The interface displays the current score, lives remaining, sector number, and a small minimap in the lower-right corner showing enemy positions and energy fragment locations. The game can be paused at any time with the Escape key.
