Instructions
Gameplay in ConnectLine is turn-based and non-time-constrained. The player interacts with the game board using a mouse or touch input. To begin a connection, the player selects a node by clicking or tapping on it. The selected node becomes highlighted, and a line segment extends from it, following the cursor or finger movement. The line is drawn along the grid cells, moving orthogonally (up, down, left, right) but not diagonally. The player completes a connection by dragging the line to the matching colored node and releasing the input. A successful connection causes both nodes and the path between them to become fixed and non-interactive. An unsuccessful connection, such as ending the line on an empty cell or a mismatched node, results in the line being erased. The game enforces two primary rules: no two paths may cross or occupy the same grid cell, and every cell on the board must be filled by exactly one path segment by the end of the level. If a player creates a path that leaves an empty cell unreachable, the game does not prevent the move but will indicate an invalid state upon attempting to complete the level. The player can undo the most recent connection by pressing the undo button located in the interface toolbar. The toolbar also contains a restart button to reset the level to its initial state, a hint button, and a pause menu. Controls are mapped to keyboard shortcuts: Z for undo, R for restart, and H for hint. The game provides no audio feedback for moves, relying solely on visual cues such as color changes and path highlighting.
